Course Prerequisites

You must be at least 18 years old.

You must have already completed: PADI Rescue Diver, 40 logged dives, CPR and First Aid certification within 24 months.

You will also need a medical clearance to dive which must be signed by a doctor - in the UK this is normally only available from HSE AMED's. Please speak to us before you book any Pro course about getting this completed.

During the DM course, your instructor will ask you to complete a number of water skills assessments including a 800m swim, 15 minute water tread, underwater kit exchange and more. You must be suitably fit to take part in this course.

This course is completed over a minimum of 6 intensive days or done part time over a few months. Regardless this course is a serious commitment but one of the most rewarding you'll ever do.

Equipment & Extra Cost

As a dive professional, you'll need to have all your basic scuba equipment, including a dive computer, a dive knife, dive compass, and at least two surface signalling devices.

At this level we do not expect to loan you any basic gear as you should own this all by now (except weight and cylinder hire which are included in the course)

Specialised equipment such as lift bags etc will however be provided for use during the course.

We offer discount on TUSA, Waterproof, TovaTec and Beaver Sports gear and equipment. We can have this ready for you ahead of your course. Chat to us before hand to discover what we have in stock or to order in your preferred colour!

After the course...

So you've made it to the first Professional rank in diving; without doubt being a Divemaster is one of the most important and well recognised qualification you can have.

But if you're hungry for more knowledge, have a passion for teaching or want to begin a career in diving then speak to us about the Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor courses which are available from our recommended professional provider over at ProDive UK. You'll learn under the guidance of a Platinum Course Director (you literally can not get any higher!) and make connections for life through both our businesses.

Medical Requirements

Diver Medical - Participant Questionnaire signed by a UK Doctor.

We recommend however that all candidates looking to complete the DM course have a current MA2 HSE Fit to Dive certificate for commercial diving completed by a HSE AMED.

Please call us before booking this course to understand the requirements, costs and be signposted to your nearest AMED.
